In an exciting educational excursion, Class 8 students from DAV Public School Jasola Vihar had the unique opportunity to visit New Sarasvati House, one of the leading publishing houses in the country. The visit, which took place on 6th of August 2024, offered the students an in-depth look at the intricate process of bookmaking, from subject finalization to content development, printing, and binding.
The children were fascinated to learn about the initial stages of book creation, starting with the crucial step of subject finalization. Editors and authors shared insights into how they choose topics that will captivate and educate readers. Following this, the students delved into the content development phase. They observed how ideas are transformed into structured content, meeting with writers and editors who explained the importance of research, drafting, and revisions. The students were also given a glimpse into the creative process behind illustrations and cover designs, highlighting the collaborative effort required to produce a visually appealing and informative book.
The children then proceeded to the printing section, where they witnessed the transformation of digital files into printed pages. The printing experts at New Sarasvati House demonstrated the various printing techniques and technologies used to ensure high-quality production.
Finally, the students visited the binding department, where the printed pages are assembled into finished books. They observed the different binding methods and the meticulous attention to detail required to produce a durable and attractive book.
Throughout the visit, the students were encouraged to ask questions and engage with the professionals, making the experience both educational and interactive. The day concluded with a Q&A session, where the children had the chance to inquire about the publishing industry and the career opportunities it offers.
