Tree Plantation Drive
"Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago."
                           ~ Warren Buffett
Trees are known as the lungs of the earth. Planting trees is the only way to make sure that our planet’s green cover is maintained. Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting festival celebrated in the month of July in which thousands of trees are planted all over the country.
The history of Van Mahotsav Day dates back to 1947 when it was first organised by a botanist M S Randhawa from 20 to 27 July. Later on, the festival was moved to the first week in July in 1950.
To make children aware of all the bounties of nature and to inculcate love and compassion towards mother nature an activity of tree plantation was organised for the students of class V as their Social Science activity. The students enthusiastically participated in the activity and planted trees in their homes and surrounding areas.
